Two of our members read stories they wrote about their youth, one fiction, one non-fiction. First, we heard the humorous tale of a boy who had never heard of Johnny Unitas. Then, a member read her story recalling her experience as a local beauty queen.
Eldersburg Writing Group
The Eldersburg Writing Group in an informal group of writers who meet at the Eldersburg Library on Wednesday mornings at 9:15AM. The primary purpose of this group is to provide a dedicated time and quiet place to work on individual writing projects. However, at 10:00AM a discussion time is held. This may consist of reading a short piece of work, sharing information about writing, publishing, or education opportunities, or brainstorming. Longer pieces of writing may be shared with the group via email. Writing may be shared for fun, for critique, or not at all. This is up to the individual. Writers of all genres are welcome to join, published or unpublished. You do not need to arrive promptly at 9:15 to participate. Be sure to bring your current project to work on during quiet time. Some members shared good news today, others bad news, that’s all part of writing. One member shared a humorous and sentimental story about her “spinster” Aunt Eddie. For the listeners, it evoked memories of visits to their own elderly family members as children.
